GAMA Healthcare hosted its first-ever Infection Prevention Learning Lab in Adelaide on the 22nd of February.
We brought together 30 Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) experts from acute, community and aged care settings. The event provided a fantastic opportunity for participants to meet face-to-face, network and share IPC perspectives and experiences with their peers.
Ryan Clarke, GAMA Healthcare Clinical Education Specialist, was one of the speakers at the event. He presented an evidenced-based approach to selecting disinfectants in healthcare based on guidelines and how best practices of cleaning can help mitigate risks of healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs).
Marija Juraja, an IPC expert and Nurse Unit Manager at CAHLN, was also a guest speaker at the event. Her presentation focused on winter preparedness and the current situation in the Northern Hemisphere in terms of winter viruses and spikes in cases such as influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and COVID. Her valuable insights highlighted the importance of remaining vigilant with vaccinations and encouraging individuals to maintain proper respiratory hygiene to keep themselves and others safe. Her presentation also indicated what we might expect in the lead-up to our own winter and emphasised the need to take proactive measures to prevent the spread of infections.
The event concluded with an interactive session where attendees had the opportunity to network with their peers and engage with GAMA Healthcare staff on IPC related matters, environmental cleaning, and GAMA Healthcare’s IPC solutions.
GAMA Healthcare thanks everyone who attended the inaugural GAMA Healthcare Learning Lab and hope it is the first of many to come.
