Wash or decontaminate your hands. (Risk assess PPE according to local policy).
Always wipe surfaces from clean to dirty.
Approximately 2-4 wipes will be required to clean a CPAP machine.
Ensure that the CPAP machine is turned off.
Disconnect and remove all consumables from the machine.
Clean the machine from top to bottom following an ‘S’ shaped pattern, including the screen.
Wipe all switches, knobs and all exposed surfaces, ledges and brackets.
Clean the back and sides of the machine.
If the CPAP machine has a stand, take a new wipe and clean the stand, wheels and brakes.
Leave the CPAP machine to air dry, allowing sufficient contact time with the disinfectant.
Dispose of cleaning wipes as per local protocol.
Remove PPE, wash or decontaminate hands, and if required complete a record of cleaning as per your local protocol.
